new shoes new journeys

I absolutely love this pair of shoes!
I love the design, the colour and most importantly, I love how comfortable they are. I currently have Plantar Fascitis (aka Heel Pain) on my right foot, and it flares up after every sprints session. Walking becomes a painful affair as I would be unable to put my full body weight over my right foot. But this pair of shoes gives my feet really good cushioning and support, reducing the pain I have over my right foot when I walk! This makes getting around and training much easier because my heel pain is lessened significantly. So, definitely a good pair of shoes! 🙂

But what more I love about it is this: It marks a new beginning.

A new pair of shoes marks a new beginning. It signifies new journeys to be treaded, new roads to walk.

In the lead up to SEA Games, I’ve been going through alot of stress in trying to push myself harder every training, to make the most of every session. I’ve also started to see different weaknesses in my character surfacing. In the midst of these, I find myself faced with a decision –  to face my inner giants, or to choose to ignore them and simply focus on preparing for the games. But life is so much more than simply preparing for a single event. And the emotional portion of an athlete’s mind is not seperable from the physical manifestation of traning.

I choose to face my inner giants, to face my weaknesses and work on the flaws in my character. I want not just to be a better athlete, but I want to be a better person, one with inner strength and a good character. And that requires me to walk down the road less walked – a potentially painful and difficult journey. I need God, I need people around me to help me through the journey, and also – I need a darn good pair of shoes to keep me going.

So yes, this pair of shoes is just a pair of shoes to any person. But to me, it is a start of a new journey of walking towards my dream (SEA Games), and my new journey of battling my inner giants.

New shoes takes us on new journeys, to new places.
I look forward to where I’ll go with these pair of shoes.

Thank you Under Armour for blessing me with these shoes at such an appropriate timing.
